I present here a selection of my social media posts: largely raw and unedited, as I originally posted them. I tapped them out during rest breaks snatched from a busy daily schedule, and wrote them in response to the day's news, to happenings in my everyday life, and to express thoughts and feelings about things important to me.

To read my future postings and to join the conversation, you are invited to follow me on Twitter at @OnAWing1 and to 'Like' my Facebook page: Bat-Zion Susskind-Sacks (Public Figure).

Where, for a Jew, is Home

I am not one to tell my fellow Jewish brothers and sisters to make aliya to Israel. I myself lived in the Diaspora for over 32 years. Those were not wasted years and I am very grateful for the opportunity.
What I can and will tell them though is LEAVE for Israel by choice.
When we make decisions out of choice, we are more free to make the right ones. We can properly prepare for them, plan them with ease and a level headed approach. Then, all factors and paradigms can be weighed and taken into account and the decision will be sound and the move an easier one.
Don't make the same mistakes that Jews throughout history have when they refused to understand, or even try to read the writing on the Wall. Please do not wait until a decision which you are unprepared for, spiritually, emotionally and physically is forced upon you.
You may own the houses, the big comfortable houses that you currently live in but never forget, you will never own the streets and in some parts of history, Jews did not even own the pavements.
Make the right decision while you can. Please do not wait until it is imposed upon you . Learn the lessons of our history. They are the best! Wishing you a wonderful day/night wherever you are, my brothers and sisters. Wishing it to you from Eretz Yisrael where Jews live freely on their HOME. Am Yisrael Chai!

The Propaganda War

Ever wondered why the Arab propaganda machine spends millions on efforts to demonize Israel and dehumanize it?
I cannot help but draw comparisons with Nazi propaganda.
Like the Nazis, the Arab world and its collaborators are engaging in a modern day "Final Solution" to the Jewish/Israeli problem. The only difference between the two is the pace!
The Nazis had a problem. They could not just erase a whole culture, a culture that contributed greatly to European world in particular and world civilization in general. The Jews were too visible, too valued in the eyes of many.
In order to justify ridding the world of Jews, the Nazis developed a very sophisticated pseudo-scientific system of demonizing them (physically). A being that looked and had such physical imperfections as the Jews had no place in this world which was and still is striving towards perfection.
Once demonized, the Nazis proceeded to dehumanize the Jews. By putting them into camps, forcing them to live in subhuman conditions, forcing them many times to resort to immoral practices and means of survival dictated by humans' animalistic instincts for survival, we, Jews and other undesirables, were reduced to the levels of the animal world. And who will stand up to hunting down animals in those days? Anything is possible and allowed to do with animals , including death, for they no longer possess human traits.
Now, if the Nazis had a problem, then, the Arab world and its supporters have a bigger one!
Israel is a strong nation, a nation that thrives, that succeeds, grows and continues to grow and contribute to the world. The memories of the Holocaust and its horrors are still strong with many. The Arabs know it. Their "Final Solution" plan is much slower and finally the Jews and friends of the Jewish state are fighting back and fighting back with might. Israel is not alone anymore and our voices are heard and our contributions are making a difference in the lives of many.
My message to all our demonizers and their ilk, we are not going to give up. You are going to have to spend many more of your millions towards your futile efforts to get rid of us! United we stand and we shall win. Am Yisrael will continue to live in Eretz Yisrael with United Jerusalem as its capital. Never again in Israel is ALWAYS! Am Yisrael Chai!

The Reason Why

""He who has a why to live can bear almost any how." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Many people ask me why I chose to move back to Israel when I had so many other choices. Those who know me, ask me how I can survive such a harsh reality surrounded by hatred and wishes to destroy us and see a hope for the future here.
The Why and the How are two of the best friends that the Jewish people have had for over two millenia.
The Why I believe has been obvious all along. As Jews, we have always longed to come back to the only place we ever called home, the place where our past present and future are woven in the tapestry of our essence as a people. For two thousand years, we have been pledging "Next Year in Jerusalem". Many of us, myself included, were able to realize that dream.
The How, however is much harder to understand. Ever since we were forced out of our Land, we have experienced, hatred, persecution and one edict after another. Life was harsh and our history filled with blood.
Despite it all, however, we always believed in a brighter future that is awaiting us, a future of freedom, growth and Peace. We never gave that up. Hatikvah, the Hope is our How. As long as there is ONE Jewish soul throbbing in ONE heart and as long as ONE pair of eyes is looking in the direction of Zion, our How is alive and well.
Wishing all of you a restful Shabbat and a blessed weekend wherever you are.

Falling in Love with Eretz Yisrael

Have you ever been in love?
Do you remember the first time you got butterflies in your stomach?
Remember the first time your heart skipped a beat or that rush of adrenaline because you experienced someone who meant the world to you?
How about wanting to give all of you to the one, that very special one?
Now, imagine experiencing this feeling every single day of your life!
Eretz Yisrael, you do all of that to me.
The warm feeling of your embracing brown earth always welcomes my tired bones.
Your green pastures where my ancestors stepped call me to roll in them.
Your flowing milk and honey are the elixir of my being.
The Spirit of G-d that always hovers over you cloaks my essence and the silent prayers of Jacob's angels please my soul's ears.
There are days when we fight.
There are days when we doubt each other. There are days when we don't speak to one another.
But then comes one day which makes us fall in love with each other all over again.

Nasrallah

My mother, may she rest in Peace, taught me a Yiddish saying. Translated roughly, it says, "A person has to sleep with a problem one night and he or she gets used to it." Tonight at 7:00 p.m., we had another national drill in preparing for the possibility of chemical warfare here in the region.
And you know what? My mother was right. I was actually on a skype conversation with a friend in the US when the sirens went off, I asked him to forgive me while I calmly went and checked the safe room as per instructions of the Home Security Office, and resumed my conversation a few minutes later.
Nassrallah, one of our problems, here is my message to you and your ilk. You may threaten us all you want. You also may end up using some of those weapons against us and may even badly hurt some of us but you will NEVER take our freedom here in Eretz Yisrael away from us. Wherever you are lurking, in some cave, or underground tunnel, the coward that you are, let me tell you that we walk our streets proudly, we teach our children to believe in a great future and unlike you, breathe the fresh air and bask in the bright Mediterranean sunshine and try to lead as normal a life as possible.
Yes, my mother was right, you are a problem, a nagging problem that we got used to. But you know what? Compared to us, your problems are much greater, more serious and, unlike us, despite all your sleepless nights, it seems that you will never get used to and never will be able to resume a normal life as long as you have a"problem" called Israel. And if there is one fact I am certain of, it is that we and Israel ARE here to stay!
